Present

Move from interrogation and investigation to trust. Make the user experience faster and fairer in the process while reducing expensive and manual “maybes”. The result? Onboard in seconds instead of minutes and give your users the assurance that their data remains theirs.

The Problem:

We know that there’s lots of room to make the customer onboarding experience easier, simpler, and faster. Onboarding gets a bad rap—it still takes multiple minutes in the best of cases, and most providers 3 in 10 eligible applicants before they become customers. KYC requirements and confusing disclosures add friction and lead to lost revenue, all because individuals need to “start from scratch” every time they want to set up an account with an app or service provider.

Our Solution:

We cut down onboarding times to seconds by allowing people to take their verified identity and positive record with them wherever we need it. Service providers can rely on pre-verified data, zero-knowledge proofs, and strong controls around the data governance and provenance of those records.

02
Future

We future-proof your record-keeping by supplying both push and pull methods for automating updates. You can request the most recent verified update as easily as making as an API call or a github pull request. You consumers can publish changes for re-verification at any time.

The Problem:

It’s one thing to successfully onboard a user. It’s another to maintain trust between you and that user over the customer lifecycle. Historically, keeping track of changes to customer data is manual and subject to error—as time goes by businesses accumulate latent risk. People change, so maintaining trust in that person should be automated and dynamic.

Our Solution:

Let your customers turn themselves into secure, permissioned, custodians of their data. Any encrypted and permissioned disclosure or update is done in a way that satisfies regulatory needs while maintaining your users’ data self-ownership. By marrying a “track changes” approach with the latest in selective disclosure, we can solve for “perpetual KYC” that respects the needs of both consumers and service providers.

03
Past

In keeping with the idea that people should possess portable, verifiable information, each user owns and maintains their change history—it is a chain of trust between verified individuals and verifying institutions.

The Problem:

“Audit logs” have historically been a source of cost and risk for financial services providers due to data fragmentation, siloing, and manual processes. Service providers struggle to answer the mission-critical question: “how did that customer’s data look in the past, and how did it get that way?”

Our Solution:

Portabl increments every user’s change logs automatically as data is updated and reverified data over time. In effect, users carry their change history with them as a set of linked historical data. We extend the idea of pulling and pushing verified claims to historical records. This history can be requested and disclosed to service providers in a privacy-preserving way based on their regulatory needs.

04
Privacy

Portabl’s verifiable credential backbone and composable approach to zero knowledge proofs (ZKPs) ensures that consumers own their data and service providers can avoid holding onto sensitive PII should they choose. We do the hard work for you so you can focus on defining what you need to verify and getting back to business.

The Problem:

Traditional compliance is extractive—that is, consumers hand over a bunch of data in exchange for access (or rejection). Consumers repeat this cycle as they accumulate different products and services, each with their own data requirements and each increasing the surface area that’s vulnerable to breaches or bad actors.

Our Solution:

We redefine the controls by which identity data is stored, verified, updated, and reverified through our use of selective disclosure and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs). Service providers can be as transparent or as ZK as they want with their Portabl deployments in order to verify only what is strictly needed and nothing more, ensuring identity composability and data minimization over the course of the customer lifecycle.
